Norman Charles Levien


Mr. Norman C. Levien, 88 of Dixon, Iowa, died Thursday evening, June 28, 2012, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Norman Charles Levien was born September 20, 1923, in Davenport, Iowa, to Albert and Alice (Hein) Levien. On November 1, 1947, He was united in marriage to Lois Augusta Puck in Davenport, Iowa. Norman and Lois farmed in the Donahue and Dixon areas, for many years and retired to Wheatland, Iowa. Lois preceded Norman in death on January 11th, of this year.

He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, coon hunting, horseback riding, playing cards and enjoying his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norm was known for his joking ability and his wink wink. Even as bad as he felt in the end, Norm still had a sense of humor.

Surviving are children and their spouses, Darrell and Cindy Levien of Dixon, Duane and Denise Levien of Calamus, Iowa, Janet and Larry Schlemmer of DeWitt, and Joyce and Frank Ganzer of Wheatland; grandchildren, Darren (Rachel) Levien, Monica (Jason Montegna) Levien, Stefanie Barnes and Meagan Schlemmer; great-grandchildren, Quinn Levien and DilLyn Montegna; step-grandchildren, Chad, Tara, Dena, Brit, Kayla, Josh and Zach; step-great-grandchildren, Areilla, Arthur, Albert and Aries; a sister, Lois Lilienthal of Tipton, Iowa.

In addition to his wife, Lois, Norman was preceded in death by granddaughters, Rachel Levien and Crystal Schlemmer, his parents, a brother, Eldon and a sister, Verda Regennitter.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, in the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Davenport Memorial Park. A luncheon will follow at the Dixon American Legion. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials are suggested to Westwing Place, DeWitt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darren Levien, Chad Pickering, Zach Poell, Josh Poell, Monica Levien, Meagan Schlemmer and John Weber.
